THE MVP PROGRAM: MEN'S VIOLENCE
PREVENTION
A compelling outcome of this
engaging program is the transformation of a focus on men as actual or potential
perpetrators of violence against women to one of defining their roles as allies
and advocates. This shift in perspective greatly reduces participants'
defensiveness while increasing participation and commitment. Participants
develop and practice a variety of practical intervention skills. With his
engaging and humorous speaking style Todd:
- Shows how homophobia and pornography
contribute to male violence and sexual assault
- Illustrates how the campus culture of
alcohol use and sexual assault are connected
- Teaches men practical skills to interrupt,
confront and challenge violence and abuse by their peers
- Discusses how coercion and manipulation
contribute to rape
MENTORS IN VIOLENCE PREVENTION: MVP

What would it look like if we changed our
expectations of students? If we treated them differently? If we created
opportunities for peer-developed prevention efforts? If we put them in the role
of being allies, being part of the solution? This highly interactive workshop
provides that opportunity. Combining lecture, experiential exercises and
interactive discussions, MVP examines:
- gender issues
- homophobia
- bullying
- sexual harassment
- alcohol and drugs
- prevention/intervention skills
- school violence

designed to enhance healthy, equal relationships between young men and women.
