Frequency db History

A little history for ya. . . .

Frequency db currently resides in Olympia, WA. They began as Slow Children back in the summer of 1992 in Coos Bay, OR. In the past five years, they've played over 400 shows, including opening slots for the Screaming Trees, Sky Cries Mary, Skeleton Key, Jonathan Fire*Eater, Babe the Blue Ox, Mike Watt, Goodness, Sweet 75, Frank Black, The Posies, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Super Deluxe, and many, many more national acts.

In 1995, Slow Children released a full length CD entitled "da sein". Over 1,000 copies were sold with almost no promotion other than live shows and the occasional press and radio (Seattle's 107.7 and KCMU) coverage. Slow Children embarked on an intensive 60 date west coast tour in the fall of 1996. While 1997 was a good year, they slowed down a bit in comparison. The year was spent writing new material and playing shows throughout the NW before spending the summer and fall months in the studio recording their next full length CD under the new name, Frequency db.

Sam and John Densmore

A 7" single including 3 tracks from the new album, "Blue Down Where The Diver Goes",(Ballad Of.., Join the Circus, Riptide)was released in March of 1998, followed by a two week tour of the west coast that spanned from Seattle to Los Angeles. Last spring was very busy with opening slots for Sky Cries Mary, Mike Watt, and The Posies in the northwest and released there CD with Resistor Records. Recording has been underway for there next upcoming album, while there new songs are being played at there live shows. While originality has always abounded with the band, FREQ. db has initialized a concious focus on a more honed style in their new material while still seeming to fall through the cracks of genre-specific qualifiers. They bridge the gap between what may have once been called "wave" or "techno" with basic elements of punk and alternative rock.
